As a kid I grew up watching boxers like Mike Tyson and always dreamed to be able to compete at that level. I was fortunate enough to find a great, local gym in my teen years and immediately knew it was right where I wanted to be. If I close my eyes I can still smell the leather of the mitts and bags.
In 2006, my family and I relocated to Stephenville so I could finish my degree at Tarleton State. When I graduated, I took a position as a social worker for Erath County. I currently serve full time in that role but in my heart, I've always held opening a boxing gym as something I longed to do.
In October of 2020 I was motivated to turn that dream into a reality when my former Coach and mentor, John "Lawman" Lawson, passed away unexpectedly. I opened SBC in his honor and use the same tried and true principles he taught me as a kid to train our fighters today.
It is my hope that SBC will be the type of place my old gym was for me: a refuge from the chaos of the outside world; A place where fighters come to decompress, for camaraderie, physical fitness, to learn self defense, to clear their mind, and to learn and appreciate the sport of boxing for the art that it is.
No matter your skillset, current fitness level, or knowledge of the sport, I welcome you to come try out a class and see why myself and so many others love this sport. You won't be disappointed.

Mondays: 7pm - 8pm
Wednesdays: 6pm - 7pm
Fridays: 6pm - 7pm
Some Saturday, Sunday, and Thursday night practices, as well as sparring/tournaments for members will vary (due to tournaments).

STRONG AT EVERY LEVEL
Not looking to compete or spar? Use our group classes as you begin your journey to get faster, stronger and healthier. Strength Training is suitable for everyone, at any kind of fitness level, but we do ask that members be at least 5 years old. Our group classes offer an excellent training program, taking advantage of the body’s natural movements in conjunction with cardio and core strength drills.
BOXING FUNDAMENTALS (NON-COMPETITIVE)
Allow our certified coach to teach you proper form and fundamentals, beginning with how to punch. This work out regimen will help to improve endurance, build lean muscle mass, rev up your metabolism and develop maximum strength.
If you're not looking to spar or compete in tournaments, do not let that deter you from joining. Our group classes work to teach self defense, help develop healthy aggression and anger management, and build confidence and self esteem. If you are looking for something to challenge you mentally and physically, look no further.
To become a boxer you have to be willing to push yourself to top physical condition. At Stephenville Boxing Club, Coach Elias will train you on the skills you need to succeed and ensure your time in the gym is well spent honing your mind and body to peak physical condition but the heart of a boxer is something that cannot be taught; If you have the determination and endurance to pick yourself back up, no matter how many times you've been down for the count, or had your back against the ropes, then SBC is the gym for you!
